It’s stunning at this point it’s not entirely legal across the country. Only politicians could be this inept. Never should have been made illegal but it’s about 30 years past due on legalization. States who don’t even have it for medical purposes are an abomination.
They don’t give a shit about anyone but their donors
In Kansas, we may get it this year but that is a big MAY
As a Wisconsinite, I feel this.
come on indiana, you slow ass
Indiana is like the south. So unfortunatly it might be a while. However feel free to come to Chicago and smoke
It's the state of Mike Pence. Keep dreaming.
I’ve come to realize that Indiana will either be the last to or never legalize any form.
Just drive to Illinois, or Michigan depending on where you live. That’s what i do :)
We gotcha in Chicago friend
You think your state is fucked? Idaho has legislation in the pipeline right now to modify their state constitution to never allow the recreational legalization of cannabis.
There are some counties where alcohol is illegal which is crazy to me
Don't worry man things will definitely change. Old farts with no common sense only live so long and most younger people agree with legalization. Old people are literally holding the entire world back. They ruin governments.
It's kind of sad how fucked up Idaho has become. The Teton Valley is a place I wouldn't mind living but damn some of the state's laws dude.
They're scared of a ballot initiative, so they're trying to get ahead of it. These are politicians that claim to love democracy. Fuck Idaho.
C'mon over to liberty lake!
DC with the “cookie gifts” lol
I visited an art gallery, the art you purchase isnt priced till you select your free gifts
now thats what ny doing till dispo open
Utah is sweating
Too many Mormons here for it to be legalized
17 yr old me getting arrested for a gram of weed would laugh at the sight of this. What a way we’ve come.
As a Texan... fuck all y'all
If you ever find yourself in your state's hat hmu and I'll spread the love. Go Stars!
Dont hate us. Hate your representatives, tex.
Its decriminalized and had medical
So far 17 states, DC, 2 territories, and 4 indigenous tribal reservations have fully legalized the possession and use of marijuana:
Texas. Lol, Joe Rogan
How did Montana legalize before New Hampshire?
It’s also pretty libertarian.
New Hampshire is waiting for the feds, we want to sell it in our state run liquor stores
We hate government control a lot more than they do.
mn needs to hurry tf up
Got at least another 4 years, sad to say
This picture makes me happy.
I'm hoping one day to be able to drive coast to coast, only passing through green states.
Maybe through the north? Only need Idaho (never... until federally legal), North Dakota (good luck), Minnesota (most likely), Wisconsin (maybe not in the near future), Ohio (maybe not in the near future), and Pennsylvania (most likely).
There’s KY.... as gray as fuck. Shit.
Hell, there's still dry counties in Kentucky, isn't there?
Never in my life did I think VA would legalize weed before MD, yet here we are
Thank god. (Unless you’re from MD then I’m sorry, mate)
cries tears of joy in New Jersey
West coast the best coast !
Canada...coast to coast.
yessirrrrr repping the West Coast till i die
Seeing VA dark green on the map doesn't feel real
I know. It’s magical.
Well it technically isn't. It won't be legal until July and dispensaries won't happen for another couple years.
Slowly but surely. One toke at a time.
Wisconsin is such a backwards state. It pains me.
I just want to tailgate at lambeau with a bunch of fatties. And some joints too!
So it’s literally 12 states preventing federal legalization
The senate majority leader chuck schumer is trying to do at least decriminalization
Not necessarily. A state's individual efforts to legalize doesn't have a direct correlation to Congressional support.
Much worse. One piece of human garbage from Kentucky has prevented it.
Nothing better than a republican run state.
What drives me absolutely insane about this is, in theory, Republicans should overwhelmingly support legalization. Limited government is the backbone of the whole the whole idealogy. Free market capitalism should wholely apply to this.
Tbf Alaska, Arizona, Montana, Massachusetts, and Vermont have Republican governors.
In Tennessee if the church says no then it's a no. So our only hope is federal legalization and even then there is a 50/50 chance that TN still bans it.
Medical is legal in Iowa. I’m not sure what it’s allowed to treat (could be very limited). Maybe that’s why it’s not listed but it is legal.
Came here to say this. It is super strict to get it. It's also illegal in flower form. It has to be some sort of tincture or pill. I have a friend (27y/o) who's sister (25y/o) has a degenerative disease and is able to get medical cannabis. Super potent stuff too. Like 50mg in one dose.
Mississippi said they were going to be the last ones to legalize... here I am in TN confused asf with legal cbd bud but illegal posession.
MS takes great pride in being at the bottom of almost every list of states. No one misses the glory days of the 50s more, when blacks and women were kept in their places, than MS.
They (MS) passed medical last November. Will be up and running by Aug 15. Glad I have a buddy who lives across the state line and I can use his residence. I'm stuck in Memphis, and TN is way behind on this front.
Come on North Carolina! Please!
Tennessee is decriminalized up to a half oz
That is not true at all, they introduced a bill but the GoP refuse to vote on any marijuana bills until the DEA removes it from the class I list of drugs.
Decriminalized isn't legalization. Not by any stretch.
This picture makes me super hopeful, if we can get the entire map dark green, then Australia maaaaay be just 20 years away.
Just a few more months for us in VA!
Congratulations New Mexico another one added to the board in a weeks time. I’m on the East Coast and do you see were Maryland is? That’s us in limbo. Maryland is a horrible place to live.
Over here crying in Wisconsin
Virginia isn't actually fully legal until July
There are more legal states than illegal. LMFAO at the grays.
There are more states with legal MEDICAL marijuana, not legal rec use, but it’s getting closer and closer! I think 2021 has been the biggest year for legal rec: New Jersey, Montana, Arizona, New York, New Mexico, and Virginia (suppose to have South Dakota on that list too but the Republican governor said nah fuck y’all).
I find this map funny because even if the states that are grey did have legal weed they would still suck to live in because of all the idiots (trumpers)😂😂
But they'd be slightly more tolerable.
Don't want to be a debbie downer or anything but if your employer drug tests, it doesn't matter if it's legal. That doesn't apply to all jobs of course but there are way more companies that straight up don't want their employees being high, legal or not. With urine and hair testing being the most popular (cheapest?) they would have to come up with something that would have to test if you've smoked within say hours instead of 2-4 weeks. I think something like that already exists, too lazy to look it up, but I hear it's expensive?
Possession of up to a half ounce in NC is decriminalized. If you are caught with half an ounce or less, it’s up to a $200 ticket and that’s it. A criminalized state like mine would send you to prison and give you a fine for that.
NC is decriminalized but that doesn't make it legal for use or for sale.
This map is wrong. Iowa has medical.
Lol Iowa has... Something.
We can do better PA, c'mon!
Your medical cannabis laws and status aren't bad.
In 2016 I paid a visit to every legal state
Its getting greener every year. I love it.
It's almost like we are two countries. The West-East coast and the South-midwest. Or East Berlin - West Berlin.
Going camping and enjoying the outdoors has been extra special in michigan now that it's legal recreationally. I can't enjoy both my recreational activities now. Hit the pot shop then the camp spot.
Realistically how long of a timeframe we looking at Ohio?
Anyone wana take bets on which state will be the last to legalize?
Alabama 100%. We don’t even have a fucking lottery.
At least our country is slowly uniting for one thing!
Doesn't Texas have very limited medical mj? Limited thc content and limited allowable conditions.
Green coast represent!
So, quick poll: how long til the whole country becomes legal?
I wish NC would just let us vote on it so we can get it legalized already
Put a asterisk by the states its legalized in but have no employee protection laws. Cause is it really legal then.
Texas, you fools.
it’ll never be legal or decriminalized here in texas sadly lol
It 's moving pretty fast through the committees, medical expansion just passed via a voice vote.
It will be the last one if it does
I've never wanted to visit the USA as much as I do now
Come visit Canada. It's been legal for years here, so we have nice stores set up.
C'mon Australia we are falling behind, we only got like 6 states (and Tasmania) how are we this far behind
Hate to say South Dakota struck down it's marijuana laws recently so they shouldn't be on this list.
This has been conveniently ignored by the media for months. TWO piece of shit cops, with the governor's backing, got the court to reverse a ballot initiative that the people voted for. Not a shock, considering the human garbage that SD has put into it's legislature.
i hat is the difference between decriminalized and fully illegal?
Illegal to sell, small fine/no jail time for personal possession.
Iowa has medical.
Ahhh, I love seeing my mostly disappointing home state of Virginia in that nice dark green, it suits her
Hey Arkansas has medical just to update the map!
I’m in the only non rec state completely surrounded by legal weed
That map gets greener every time I see it.
Texas gonna be MAAAD asf lol.
The fact that Louisiana hasn’t capitalized on legal weed yet and became the tourism hub for the gulf coast is honestly disgusting. My state is sitting on billions of dollars of tourism money on top of taxing weed. Imagine if you could buy a joint on Bourbon street during Mardi Gras.
Virginia is such a confusing state to me politically.
If the Repubs are allowed to continue to rule PA lawmaking then we will probably be the last state to legalize. Help John Fetterman, you're our only hope.
Here in Nebraska our governor thinks that marijuana will "kill your kids."
Check on your Kansas friends, we’re surrounded on 4 sides by weed but don’t have any for ourselves :(
Poor bastards in gray states.
I really don't like Idaho
This map is wrong. Wisconsin is not illegal.
Delaware what is the fucking hold up
Love how in NC and SC there has been medical talk recently.
I'm curious what the actual distribution of dispensaries around the country looks like. I feel like a lot of this map is states that legalized so recently that they'd barely have any shops. Does anyone know what buying legal weed in NYC will be like? Because I assume the shops aren't here yet.
NY, AZ, MT, and VA are months and years away from having dispensaries.
I don’t understand VA. Legal in July but not able to open store fronts till 2024. What?
Can not believe florida failed to legalize in 2020... Thank God the medical program is so easy to enroll in... Unless Roach gets his way then we get set back 10 years. Dude thinks it's gonna set up a similar scenario we see now with the opiate crisis with people dying in the streets.
As this chart turns greener, we approach the tipping point for federal legislation.
This map isn't great and is missing some states.
Ohio really doesn't belong on the map. Mike DeWine is a piece of inhuman trash for making the rules the way they are for us. There is a cap on how strong the weed can be and nobody is allowed to smoke it via the combustible method. Has to be vape or edible. Our laws on weed are a sick joke. You're not allowed to own guns if you have your medical card either. It's all just terrible here because it's actually safer to buy from the black market here.
looks like the Biden election/scam map
further more, as if you haven't already packed up and moved to a legal state.
