It sucks, once frys emptied their shelves i havent been able to get good hardware locally. Ive gotta get it off Newegg and hope thieves don't rob the.box.off my patio

The only plus side is Newegg uses Ontrac which for me has always been like next day delivery even when I don't pay the extra for it lol

Newegg 100, sorry op but step into the “group hug” and join us tech wrenchers:(

Nothing now. I wish we would get a micro center. There is no place to really geek out anymore here in Phoenix.

Smashboxx PC in Gilbert at least know their shit. They do custom builds, but are really knowledgeable about PCs and components.

I wish micro center would open up in it's place.

Fry's tried to go to a consignment business model. But what they wanted was for all of the vendors they bought from to instead send them the same amount of stock for nothing. Then Fry"s would pay the vendor their percentage for each item sold per month. It was ludicrous.

Yeah, you're a electronics store, not a supermarket - come on now!

Reviveit is a locally owned IT store. My brother works there, awesome place. Tons of PCs, servers, networking gear, parts, graphics cards, etc. You name it they got it. Either in the store, the warehouse or online their ebay store

juaninazio

Have you tried Circuit City?

Image

Those stores disappeared long ago. Best Buy is pretty much all we have left

Image
halo357

Sir have you been to Arizona in the last 20 years

Image
waistedmenkey

Not that I'm aware of, and not that Fry's ever had any stock the last years anyhow. Shoot, they didn't even have a 120mm case fan when I needed one a couple years back. Empty shelves the last couple holidays, for sure.

Image
jdcnosse1988

Oh yeah, Fry's definitely went down hill the last couple of years but I remember it wasn't too bad when I first moved to Phoenix like 6-7 years ago

Image
TONKAHANAH

nope. best buy is really the only place.

Pleasant_Plantain

Waiting for a Micro Center or bust at this point

Best Buy has more in-stock hardware than Fry's has had since 2015.

Image
drunkbackpacker

I think Fry’s Marketplace might have had more

Image
jdcnosse1988

Probably. But geek squad charges an arm and a leg for their "services."

Image
GeneraLeeStoned

it's so depressing when a 1 aisle sliding half case has more stock than any other store...

Image
KEVLAR60442

Frys always had the good stuff and the specialty stuff, though. Best buy has only had mid range GPU and Memory options, and barely any options for CPUs and Mobos.

Ava direct has amazing customer support and even better computers

It's also possible that the smaller the city the more likely you'll find a small business retail nerd store. Tucson, AZ has their own since it's about a two hour-ish drive up to Phoenix to visit Fry's back when it was open.

Wow, I hadn't heard Fry's went down. Can't imagine any brick-and-mortar store carrying what they had. Back when I was working, building a server, I had ordered the wrong fiber cables. No worries, zoomed over to Fry's and they had them. I guess it's online-only now.

Image
jdcnosse1988

Yeah they were nice for those things that I could probably get on Amazon, but if I wanted same day I could just go there.

Tpi has been my go-to for years. When I used to work at Computer Bay back in the early 2000's they were are competition. They moved to a much smaller shop off of the 17 and Indian School. They post up when they get video cards and such. Tpi-us.com
