I saw the recommendation for locations with big surges, is AZ considered a big surge state right now? Not getting political, genuinely curious.
Yes, Maricopa county is considered high community transmission right now.
Even as someone who leans left I’m all the way over this shit
I feel this but also I'm angry that we have to preface with our political leanings to talk about public health.
Feel the same. Let the unvax'd people get sick if they really want. I'm sick of having to cater to them.
I agree, but I’m trying to think about younger kids. There is no guarantee they’ll not get seriously ill, and it will just take another variant to make it so they get just as sick. That said, I wouldn’t be willing to make a shared sacrifice if everyone is if ignorantly not doing their part.
Remember back when Ducey was saying we would follow public health guidelines here?
Really wish I hadn’t read that. I was in a decent mood today…
That shit statement does not belong on a .gov site, that’s some trash for trash news sites… can our politicians start acting like fucking adults already?
The best part is he says AZ residents need to get vaccinated. We’ve been sitting around 51% for a while now without much progress.
It's funny that he thinks it's Biden's fault.
Wow; what an absolute dolt. Can’t wait to see him never get elected to anything again.
I was actually semi-happy with the rationality of Ducey's actions up until Trump visited Arizona mid-last year. That's when Ducey decided to stop having nightly curfews and recommendations to work from home if possible. Can't wait to vote for someone rational next November.
of course, blame it on the person who is actively trying to get this thing under some semblance of control/prevention while he thinks he's blameless.
Everyone is focused on the Delta variant. Lookup the Lambda variant that is starting to spread in the US. We are barely hearing about that one but states like Texas are starting to see that variant multiply. Given all of the unknowns and potential mutations, getting vaccinated and wearing a mask/washing your hands just isn't the inconvenience that people make it out to be.
Let's stop pretending this is about the unvaccinated. These rules are for everyone and will be for the foreseeable future. No one has the political fortitude to just say, "the vaccinated don't need to do this."
I suppose at this point I don't understand why I would go back to wearing a mask. I'm fully vaccinated, everyone around me is fully vaccinated so far as I know. From what I'm reading I'm not at risk from this. So this is to protect people who are refusing a vaccine? Why would I further inconvenience myself to protect those who actively choose not to protect themselves?
One argument is that if you contract and spread covid to unvaccinated people, you are contributing to the likelihood that a new variant will emerge that is more deadly, more infectious, or most importantly, more resistant to the current vaccines.
Problem is that the CDC has recently stated that the vaccinated can carry the same viral loads as the unvaccinated of the Delta variant which is more transmissible. The more people that the virus is affecting increases the probability that a more transmissible and virulent variant could develop and the Pfizer vaccine may not protect the vaccinated against the new variant. I'm not a medical professional but it's what I understand.
Because you can still get COVID and spread it. Children under 12 cannot choose to be vaccinated, so it’s also for them.
This will not motivate anyone who has not gotten the vaccine to get the vaccine, it will most likely deepen their “distrust” of it or whatever weird/dumb excuse they are making.
You can still get it and spread it if you’re vaccinated it’s statistically unlikely but definitely possible.
Can I ask how wearing a mask is an inconvenience for you? The 2 seconds it takes me to pull it out of my pocket and put on my face before entering a building doesn’t bother me.
100%%%%%. They had their chance.
I can't believe Ducey doubled down on not changing the law preventing schools from mandating masks. FDA approval for 5-11 yo can't come soon enough.
I can’t wait.
I just don't want to be used to make everyone else conform. I did everything right. Those who didn't, still won't. I'm wearing a mask to protect them? I will for the immunocompromised and children, but damn, not for the rest. Get a freaking shot!
Pass..i'm pro vaccine but anti mask. I don't really want to wear a mask anymore. Shit sucks.
Cool, but ain't nobody putting masks back on.
I’m all for it. I’m sick of deaths and lockdowns.
No lockdowns as Dicey has done away with those also. Now it is all about the freedom.party.
Time to say fuck it and let people be grown ups
Yup. It was a free vaccine.
Lol as if people can be mature enough to care about the plight of the economy and the lives of their fellow citizens
Dang it, I was kinda liking not having to wear a mask since I'm vaxxed.
Why not everyone?
The mask recommendation for non-vaccinated people has always been in place. It was lifted for double-dosed vaccinated people because transmission was almost non-existent.
That was always the recommendation. They’re switching it now because the rate of vaccination is trending downward and despite the vaccine, you can still spread the virus.
They're late. I started when the WHO recommended it.
Never stopped :)
If people were following the CDC about masks, 1 out of 2 people would be wearing masks in public. When that number was more like 1/100, you knew this was coming.
Wear a Mask.
Fuck the CDC. They’ve been wrong on absolutely everything since day one.
And yet they’ve been vastly more correct than trump on anything from day one
No reasons not to get vaccinated shown here. But reasoning isn't your strong suit I'm guessing.
As long as Douchey is in office, there won't be any forced masks unless the property owner puts one in place.

It works very, very well. It will give you a significantly less chance of getting it, and an even better chance of having mild symptoms. Every vaccine has breakthrough cases. Get the jab if you have not already!
Not the person to be updated about this stuff but do they say as well in their own homes or just public indoor stuff?
Not going to.
So, we are no longer shaming the un-vaccinated? “Your mask is to protect others”!
I think the willingly unvaccinated have made it clear that they don't have any shame.
So he will not allow schools to discriminate about the vaccine.
You can get an exemption for immunization records in schools…
