I'm just glad we're not asking these questions about a player on our roster. John Ross is of no concern to me anymore.
Mike Renner of PFF keeps alluding to a story about Ross outside of football (at a club) that he says he will 'share once he isnt in the league anymore but will most certainly explain why his career never panned out.' I truly cant wait to hear it at the end of Training Camp...
Someone at the club threw him a dirty look and he dropped it.
I'm going to guess sitting by himself boozing.
I would like to hear someone ask Tobin about where they went wrong in pre draft evaluations of Ross. He talked a lot this year about the guys they picked having a true love for the game of football. I’m curious if this is something that has become a larger emphasis after Ross’ failure to make an impact with the team. John seems like a good guy but from his time here and no with this report I think it’s very fair to question his love of the game
I think for some of these players they spend their entire lives training for the NFL and when they get there they realize either they don't love football anymore or the dream of playing in the NFL doesn't match the reality of playing in the NFL.
It would be very interesting. It seems like he’s just one of those guys who, due to raw talent, never had to work hard for success, even in college. He never developed the work habits or the drive that he needs to succeed in the NFL.
I don't question his love for the game, I question his mental health. Wasn't there an Enquirer article about him struggling with his mental health through injuries and adjusting to being a pro far from home?
I’m just happy with younger blood arriving that wants to do everything it can to win.
I wonder, and have absolutely nothing to base this idle speculation on, if he is one of those guys with performance anxiety. Like how the running back Ricky Williams was.
I think after him and Cedric’s failures I definitely think that’s something you place more emphasis on. Especially since Cincinnati isn’t the most glamorous location.
Watched the tape and ignored the interview
…absolutely no argument with anything in your post, but it makes me wonder how anyone can quantify and/or capture how someone else has a ”true” love for the game?
I find this hilarious after an entire team just shut down their OTAs due to catastrophic injuries.
sad that who dey nation had to learn the hard way. but we wouldnt have chase, boyd and higgins if he would have panned out
Damn good point makes me wonder if he turned into AJ Green 2.0 would we still have Dalton and no Joey B?
This is why you shouldn’t play amateur psychologist! The simple answer is: We just don’t know why these things are happening with Ross
Naomi Osaka did a pain interview during that tournament.
(6) He feels like the off-season training he's doing is better than the training he's going to get at OTAs. Jugs machines aren't that expensive; the dude could be spending offseason catching 400 passes a day vs getting 20 off the backup QB at OTAs.
Why should we speculate on players like this? We have absolutely no idea what these guy’s personal lives are like, we have no idea his reasons.
You exactly right. It feels like so many people forget that these players are human just like the rest of us.
I don’t need to know the reason. He’s competing for a spot on the roster. His competition has shown up to the facility, he hasn’t. That puts him behind the eight ball going into TC.
It's clear that football has never been a passion for Ross. Seems it was his ticket to some wealth, but not something he ever wanted to really truly work at. It's a shame.
Ross is a total head case, his heart ain't in it any more. I think the NFL was just too big of a stage for him.
When you pay people an insane amount of money to play a game, you’re definitely going to get people who just want the paycheck and that’s about it. Not every single player on the field is doing it because they bleed passion for football. As long as they show up on game day that’s all I care about.
I wouldn’t want John Ross anywhere near my roster. Everyone already knows he’s a bust and he’s somehow still overrated.
i hate to see someone of his talent waste it... glad he’s not on our roster tho
you dont know if he fought or not
When your career is in the balance and you’re bailing on coming to the workplace, you’re not fighting.
